1) SCHEDULE SOME ME TIME.

Once I’d suffered enough after my most recent loss, I made a conscious decision to make myself a priority and to start taking care of myself. At first, I didn’t know how I was going to do this. So I started with a commitment of one hour a day of me time. Getting started wasn’t easy, but I pushed through the first few weeks. Every day got easier and easier, and before I knew it, I was craving “me time.” It wasn’t long before I noticed I was feeling healthier and stronger in body, mind, and spirit. I felt myself slowly regaining a sense of joy and freedom, starting with just a glimpse here and there. Eventually, I became more committed and disciplined about getting into an optimum state of wellness. I knew what it felt like to be at my lowest point, and I just wanted to feel better about myself and about my life. If you are craving this too, complete the Self-Care Questionnaire (Appendix B) and start scheduling some “me time,” even if it’s just thirty minutes a day to do things that energize you and elevate your mood and your spirit.
